Hi,
I am searching for ideas on how best to use cameras + Zoneminder within cars. I want to be able to utilize mobile broadband so as to view live camera feeds from the car, and I will need to archive the footage.
I've considered building a Stompbox 3g router and using this with IP cameras + Zoneminder, but I am want to look at all possible hardware configurations.
Any input would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Mike

I don't have anything in particular to suggest I'm afraid but I would be interested to see what you find.
The only thing I would mention is that the 12v supply you get from a car power socket may be anywhere between 10 and 15v in reality and may go up and down all the time. Essentially it's quite a dirty supply, especially during ignition etc so you might want to regulate it before you plug in expensive cams etc that might not be designed for it.

there are plenty of revresing cams that could do this, and obvioulsy the car itx thing with a heatsiked case etc.
Mosy cams should be ok, but i would strongly suggest a split charge system. Ie zm and cams would have it own battery that was connected after ignition and disconnected at engine stop.
Do youplan to suspend the server or start and stop it off the ignition?
