Can't change brightness or contrast

Post by Scorpuk »

While web browsing I went to change the brightnesws and contrast figures. Clicked on save and they revert to what they were.

Any ideas?

Other than that everything is working. Just its too bright outside for the current settings.

I can manually change the settings in camorama and get an image:

But when running ZM its all washed out since I cannot change the brightness and contrast settings:

My system information can be found here:

What type and model of camera are you using?

I don't know about the quickcam driver, but other usb drivers I have used have an option to determine whether brightness and contrast etc are automatically controlled or manually set. If it's on auto then any changes you make will be ignored and the values reset. That may be what is happening with you, if so then see if you can find a driver option to diable this behaviour.

Worked out what was wrong:

Was using the largest scale option. As soon as I switched to a lower sized image I could change the brightness and the contrast.

Only other niggle is that when I change the contrast the value reverts to 11264, but whatever value I have entered does get applied to the camera. All this means is that I have to constantly change the contrast whenever I want to change the brightness.

I think this is probably the driver. ZM is pretty dumb when it comes to those settings and just passes them through when they change.
