system camera to check people

hi

i want to build a system with 16 cam (6fps by camera

now blueberry have a new card
PV-183 - 8 port video, 8 port audio capture card

i would like to have tips.....
2 solution

does i should buy 2 PV-183 and connect 16 cam...
i imagine every bnc, rca cam can be connected to this kind of card?

buy 16 ip camera like axis 206

does the both solution with use same cpu, memory quantity?

You should be able to connect pretty much all analogue cams to a PVR card. Using IP cams will increase the load on your ZM box (and your network) as they have to decode jpegs input as well as encode the images. The memory and disk etc could be the same though.

We haven't tried two of the PV-183's yet in one machine. I wouldn't see this as a problem, as the bttv module is pretty sane about loading chips from different cards

Does anyone know where I can get the PV-xxx range of cards in the UK.. or do BlueCherry ship across the "Pond".

I looked on their website, but couldn't see a "feedback" form where I could ask them.

They do ship here, as I have had stuff off them. I can't remember the P&P cost though but if you drop Curtis (just up the thread) a mail or pm he will be able to tell you.

Hi!

I recently purchased the PV183-16. The card works as expected and the guys at bluecherry are very helpful, but bear in mind something: the card has 8 chips, so you will be able to get 240fps ONLY if you use 8 cameras. If you use 2 cameras per chip, expect 5fps at the most, that´s what I get. 5fps is perfect for most needs.

I am planning on trying placing 2 of these cards, with 32 cams altogether, on a P4 dual 2G Ram and aprox 400G disk... first I will see how one card does on my current P4 (not dual) 512meg... to see if trying the other setup makes sense... ALL cameras will have modetect, but more than half of them will only record events about 15-30 min a day. The rest will have motion about 6hrs/day. If I do the test I will post... if anyone else has tried 2 of these cards on one system, please reply!

Not the same card, but close - PV183-8
I've set it up to run at 10fps in normal times and at 15fps at alarms.

And it works like charm. About resolutions:
2 cameras are RGB565 at 576x432 and 2 other cameras are RGB565 at 384x288.

Don't know why, but I have a problem with RGB24 on them, and also had "problem" with bttv card autodetect - it is detected as unknown.
So, I forced it as PV150. Tried to get support from bluecherry but my ticket is still open (and has been for a while)...

But all-in-all - this one rocks.

I just got a couple of PV-155 16 port cards from the. The e-mail support is fantastic! And yes, the cards work well after the appropriate modprobe line is added. This is only a 120 fpm card. Yes, the frame rate split can be less than intuitive.
