Spectra 8 and FC6

Post by ianafh »

Hello All,

I am just building a new system with FC6 and a spectra 8 card. The card has been in use in my old FC4 based system without problems for some time now. However I have been unable to get the card to work with FC6.

From the logs it looks like the card is automagically detected by the kernel, but not without error. See below for extract of /var/log/messages.

In FC6 there is no modules.conf to add the usual 'card=42,42....' line to so I tried adding the line to modprobe.conf without sucess.

How do I configure FC6 to use this card?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Ian.

Hi All

I have tried adding this to /etc/modprobe.conf

Code: Select all

options bttv card=42,42,42,42 pll=1 radio=0 tuner=4 sloppy=1 chroma_agc=1 mmap=1 vbibufs=4 v4l2=1 gbuffers=16
dmesg shows the following errors:-

Code: Select all

Anyone have any idea on where I should look or ask for help in resolving this problem?

Thanks in advance
Ian.

Hi All

Some success. I removed some of the options from modprobe.conf and now things seem to be running.

Code: Select all

options bttv card=42,42,42,42 pll=1 tuner=4
Is there a guide to these options somewhere?

Thanks
Ian.

Usualy found in /usr/share/doc/kernel/v4l and might require you to install kernel-docs package.

Hi!
Here I have the same problem with fedora 7.
The next is, that only the first channel (/dev/video0) shows the picture colored. Others are b/w.
