hi

what is the most important feature for a hard drive used for zone minder (with many camera)?

access time?
Read Transfer Rate?
Write Transfer Rate?
IOMeter File server?

Hrm...

If I were to put higher value to any of 'em, I'd choose the following two:

Access Time - There's a lot of "little writes" to the drive when recording. JPEG images are 24-50k each... and you'll be writing several of them per second. The drives memory buffer will hold them for a second or two so it can write them all in bursts, but if you're viewing at the same time... then Access Time would matter because the drive will be reading one series of JPEGs while writing another.

(Sustained) Write Transfer Rate - This is your theoretical max write speed. If you start to record more data than the drive is able to write to the drive in the time allowed, the system will wait for the drive... Thus, you could start loosing frames. Modern drives should be able to handle a substantial number of cameras.
