MPEG4 or better compression rate

Hello i'm new on this forum.

i builded a zoneminder server here at my house and my ip cameras are at my buisness(2 miles).

the problem is that my link is not very fast and i do not record locally at my bizz...

so i'm wondering if it is possible to use a greater compression codec instead of mjpeg cauz i found ip cams that uses mpeg4...
