PTZ control

Post by javaman »

I have zoneminder 1.22.3 installed. I have a Sony Pelco-D camera with 485 terminal on it. I have this connected to a 232/485 converter. I have this hooked to COM1 on the PC.

I checked ZM_OPT_CONTROL in Options.

I clicked on the "Control" tab in the camera Source screen.
I checked controllable and selected PELCO-D for Control Type.
What do I fill in for Control Device? Control Address? etc
Do I need to put in something like /dev/tty1 or such?

When I brought up the camera and clicked control, I saw the control buttons, but they did nothing.

i have no experience whatsoever with PTZ or Zoneminder's controls, but /dev/ttyS0 might be what you're looking for, if you're after COM1.

tty1 is the second terminal which you access by pressing ctrl-alt-f2 if you're within x...

(alt-f7 to get back to X)

Yes, ordinarily you would use /dev/ttyS0 for the first serial port and ttyS1 for the sedons etc. However if you were using USB to serial convertors then it could be something different, for instance /dev/ttyUSB0 or /dev/USB/tts/0 or one of a number of other options.
