I don't know if any of you would be interested in an Ubuntu based LiveCD of zoneminder but I will be creating one within the next week or so. When I get done if you would like it for the site just let me know and i'll be happy to send it your way.

There is already a ubuntu based version produced by BlueCherry so if you don't want to commit to supporting a distro, there already is one out there.

The live cd we offer is based on Xubuntu (same tree as ubuntu except the GUI uses xfce). Currently, and probably for the next foreseeable future (since we don't have much time to spend on the project) we just build the zoneminder and ffmpeg from source. One day it would be nice to install the ubuntu packages for zoneminder but until then....

If someone can suggest a cheap, but reliable shipping method I'll be interested in looking into it. UPS is expensive, as is DHL and Fedex.

We used to use USPS, however it seemed that 50% of the packages were lost, or took 2 months to deliver

I agree. I've hired a fulltime person as a customer service / shipping clerk. That'll mean she'll have more time to focus on USPS international shipping and customer service. Plus I think we've worked out our issues with USPS so we've opened that back up again.

Just installed the Bluecherry Kubuntu... looks ok so far.. but what the heck is the root password??? I was not asked to specify one, but when I try to SU, I get asked for one... it's not blank!

'sudo passwd root' (no quotes) will change the root password. We don't give out the root password.

I would happily buy it, if I was using it for a job, but as I am just 'playing' with the whole concept just for interest, I cant really justify it. AND I am impatitent

I am a linux newbie, have been using Linux now for about 2 months, mainly the Kubuntu distro.
Still trying to sus out a quick way to shut down the Mandriva ZM Live CD, have resorted to just pulling the plug from the wall at the moment, the whole logout, wait, eventuallly select shut down methood, just seems so long winded, 3-4 minutes to shut down the machine just seems toooooo loong
