4-Channel USB DVR Surveillance System

Post by Kirk22 »

Has anyone tried this USB capture adapter: http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?in ... VR&cat=VID

There's no mention of linux in the specs and it's only USB 1.1 but it's portable and relatively cheap.

BUMP..

I also was very intrested in this product and wanted to now if it could work. I am planning an install on a laptop and USB is my only option.

If any one wants more specs on this usb adapter is not to bad

1fps x 4channels
320 x 240

the included windows based software seems pretty lame. Please if any one knows or has any driver experece with this or any other USB based ideas id love to hear them. I would really like to recycle this laptop for the project.

Thanks in advance

Unfortunatly I don't think we have any real driver people involved in this project yet. I've been fooling around a bit with the card drivers and doing alright but the first usb cam I tried flunked. I haven't looked back since and have enough projects on the plate at the moment. You might want to see if you can get involved if the dev forum for usb and just follow along for a few weeks or so to get to speed then dive in. I will eventualy but between work and the projects I have going I am missing two days a week as is
If you really want to get it going that would be the best way to do it. Then you could be our USB Guru :D

OK so.. Allthough that is a flattering you think im able to test usb drivers, I dont think I have the know how. OR feel like dropping the 80 bux to find out this doest work.

Does any one have a recomnedation as to a USB based solution. This is laptop based.

I am not cool with one video imput card and a video mux ala x10.com bull shit. Thanks for any expert advice :)

As with most USB devices, your best bet is to google to see if anyone has used it for any kind of video project under Linux. If so then the chances of it working under ZM are much better. Failing that you could just plug it in and see if it gets recognised!

4 Channel USB DVR Surveillance suport

Post by hovsep »

Looks like it's supported by http://usbvision.sf.net/

Also see http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Mo ... FourInputs for information and patches specific to this device.

I've got one of these laying around. If I get some time, I'll try it out with ZM.
