Recomended Distro For ZM Install?

I was wondering if there is a recommended distro for ZoneMinder to be installed in? I am looking for a simple setup and was wondering what many have found a recommended distro for ease of ZM setup and installation.

Sorry if you find this a vague question but I really would like to get this setup this month.

I would suggest sticking with what ever distro you are comfortable with. ZM is developed on Fedora but will work fine on any distro so long as you know what you are doing. You should be comfortable with apache and mysql administration as well as basic Linux administration. Personally I support any of the Redhat based distros my self so that might be your best bet if you want quick support.

I'd second the "stick with whatever distro you know". The main Zoneminder developers produce RPMs (so they should always work), my Debian/Ubuntu package seems to be working reasonably well now, The only minor caveat is that I don't know the ZM internals that well, so there'll be a 2-step process (is it the package? no -> harass Cordel ) process for Debian/Ubuntu rather than the 1-step for the RPM distros (just harass Cordel directly )

I used your deb and it was fine, along with the instructions in the WIKI.

I typed myself up a sheet on how to re-install step by step and used it when I put a bigger disk in. It was working in 10 mins.

Ubuntu is nice 'n' easy.

Do you have a guide I can follow because really, Debian is my weapon of choice and I am very comfortable in that OS. Sadly I have never used a SQL database of any kind so I don't know how bad that is going to hurt me and Apache is kind of basic...not really much to it.

If perhaps I can see your man your created, that would be amazing.

It's a bit old, but the Wiki has the instructions here.

Also you can just "apt-get install zoneminder" if you have the Unstable repos in your source list. Then it's a minor skim through the documentation on how to set it up.

PS: The Ubuntu Feisty guidelines pretty much cover what has to be done for Debian as well (apart from how to get the .deb)
