Camera capturing but no pictures...
I'm running zoneminder 1.22.3 on Debian 2.6.16.35
I can see pictures with xawtv, but just a placeholder when I log in and check the camrea feed.
With zoneminder up and running (but not xawtv), I can see from tail /var/log/messages:
Jun 16 22:24:20 localhost zmc_dvideo0[32318]: INF [Cam_1: 43000 - Capturing at 29.41 fps]
Jun 16 22:24:53 localhost zmc_dvideo0[32318]: INF [Cam_1: 44000 - Capturing at 30.30 fps]
Jun 16 22:25:26 localhost zmc_dvideo0[32318]: INF [Cam_1: 45000 - Capturing at 30.30 fps]
Jun 16 22:26:00 localhost zmc_dvideo0[32318]: INF [Cam_1: 46000 - Capturing at 29.41 fps]
Jun 16 22:26:33 localhost zmc_dvideo0[32318]: INF [Cam_1: 47000 - Capturing at 30.30 fps]
Jun 16 22:27:07 localhost zmc_dvideo0[32318]: INF [Cam_1: 48000 - Capturing at 29.41 fps]
So i'm capturing! Great!
But the frame rate when I watch the camera in my browser remains at 0, and I just get a placeholder.
I have tried getting info by running zmu -d /dev/video0 -v -q but it just gives the reply 'Aborted'. Same with zmfix -a why??
dmesg says:
bttv: driver version 0.9.16 loaded

It doesn't seem to make any difference if i use mpeg or jpeg...
How do I troubleshoot from here?

if it works in xaw then is fine. If its a jpg error then im assuming its a build issue. What distro are you on (you may have mentioned)

Hi,
I have the same issue. ZM is capturing from camera and I can see pictures (files) but I can't see anything online. When I hit the name of monitor I get only informations about FPS (for example 10fps) and white space where should be image from the camera.
Could somebody tell me why it's happening. How can I fix this?
I use A4Tech USB Cam (ZC0301[P] Image Processor and Control Chip detected (vid/pid 0x0AC8:0x303B)), ZM 1.23.3 from sources, Slackware 12.0 distro, kernel 2.6.23, Core 2 Duo and ATI graphics with 3D support (working), Apache 2.2.4.
I can see image while using xawtv. I can browse pictures captured pictures (events) in events folder. I can set filters (I can see still image while setting filters). I can not see online view from the cam.
Informations from my log files:
zmaudit.log
zmcontrol.log
empty
zmdc.log
zmfilter.log
zmwatch.log
apache_error.log
apache_access.log
Trying to open only zms:
I tried ZM with firefox, opera, seamonkey and konqueror.
Only konqueror showed me few lines from the camera (just a blue line at the top of the picture).
ZM compiled with:
./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --with-mysql=/usr/lib/mysql --with-webdir=/srv/httpd/htdocs/zoneminder --with-cgidir=/srv/httpd/cgi-bin --with-ffmpeg=/usr ZM_DB_HOST=localhost ZM_DB_NAME=zm ZM_DB_USER=zm ZM_DB_PASS=???????
I didn't create /etc/zm/apache.conf - I could not find this file.
I use default memory value in ZM config tab.
I did try to setup memory values:
# echo 134217728 >/proc/sys/kernel/shmall
# echo 134217728 >/proc/sys/kernel/shmmax
httpd.conf:
php.ini:
short_open_tag = On
output_buffering = 4096
implicit_flush = Off
Do I have to configure BTTV video drivers for LMLBT44?
Do I need
/sbin/modprobe -v bttv card=118
/sbin/modprobe -v snd-bt87x
When I open zoneminder there is no login page - why?
Every file and folder is owned by apache:apache and has -rwxr-xr-x attributes.
If I forgot to mention about sth, please let me know.
Please help me set up zoneminder - I realy need this software.
Thank you in advance.
M. Z.

Do I have to configure BTTV video drivers for LMLBT44?
Do I need
/sbin/modprobe -v bttv card=118
/sbin/modprobe -v snd-bt87x
When I open zoneminder there is no login page - why?
Every file and folder is owned by apache:apache and has -rwxr-xr-x attributes.
If I forgot to mention about sth, please let me know.
Please help me set up zoneminder - I realy need this software.
Thank you in advance.
M. Z.
Thank you for quick reply.
I forgot to mention that almost the same situation is with nph-zms and zms.
Logs with nph-zms:

Today night I will try LiveCD to be sure that ZM can realy show me anything.
