Failed Upgrade

Post by dwhile »

I have just upgraded from 0.9.16 to 1.19.1 and it failed miserably.

Since I don't have a complicated setup - I decided to remove the old version completely and then install 1.19.1 as from new.

Using exactly the same settings that I used in 0.9.16 all I get is a grey square in the image window instead of the actual image.

I am using a Logitech Quickcam pro 4000 USB camera.

I have reverted back to 0.9.16 and everything is working again.

Anyone get any ideas what could be wrong??

Did you upgrade the database as well? If so then I'm surprised you can roll back to 0.9.16, if not then that might well be a problem.

I actually deleted the database and created a new one. To go back to 0.9.16 I again deleted the database and installed as if for the first time.

Anything suspicious looking in the logs, particular /var/log/messages assuming you are on a distro that has this file?

Afraid not - from the /var/log/messages it appeared that the capture daemon was running OK - got the messages every 1000 frames.

The logs in /tmp didn't show up anything either.

It is almost like it is running but the picture is not being captured/streamed correctly.

What method are you using to view the stream? And what browser? If you're using a zms type stream you may need to change the ZMS_PATH to nph-zms.

I tried it in both IE6 and Mozilla.

With version 0.9.16 when viewing a monitor in IE it produced still images which were refreshed and in Mozilla it streamed.

With version 1.19.1 in IE there is no pricture at all and in Mozilla there is the grey screen.

And there are no errors in any of the logs?

If you run zmu -m 1 -i do you get an image dumped, and does it look ok? Substitute 1 for whatever monitor ids you have.
