Recording 24/7 with automatic exports?

Since my new ZoneMinder setup is monitoring my room quite well I would like to take a further step and record that room 24/7. At the end of each day it would be nice to have a video automatically exported which can be transferred to another machine/medium (preferably encoded with a space saving codec like XviD or something similar). Is it possible with ZoneMinder or do I have to automate that by myself? Storing each day as jpeg images is not an option - my filesystem is ext3 and I have limited space on the recording machine (~65G).

Any hints are really appreciated! Thanks in advance.

It doesn't matter anymore. I wrote a small perl script that does the job quite well. Thanks anyways...

Sure, you can get it from here: http://www.digitalstyle.de/~rfk/tools/zm_tools-*.tar.bz2. There are some things that could be improved though, still working on it...
