xubuntu and sata drive

Hello I`am looking for some help. I bought a 149 card from Bluecherry and have downloaded there livecd. I has worked great in my old pIII but I have upgrade to a new system. My problem is when I try to install the the software it only gets to the partitioning part and hangs there. I think it does not see the sata drive. Anything I can do? Thanks.

It is just xubuntu with a changed /etc/modprobe.d/options file, and a config. Install a later version of Xubuntu or Ubuntu, and install Peter's .deb and use the live cd to refer back to the options file and the config.

SOrry mate, this is for ross's mandriva based live cd. I know the bluecherry one is based on debian (i think lol) it might be best to contact them

Actually, since we now have 3 different flavors of Live CD we might want to enlarge this forum? All three have a purpose (and yes I have all three) and they also have a bit in common.

It looks like it is a bad motherboard. I got a new one in the mail.

I like bluecherry`s livecd because I`am new to Linux and it is up and running. I have tried other livecd`s and tried to install ZM into ubuntu and xubuntu. For me having bought the card from Blurcherry and having the cd mad it easier for me to get into linux and zoneminder.

It would be nice to enlarge the forums. Bluecheery does not support the livecd.

with respect, i dont see why we should if they wont.
I would like to see just the one that we support, it gets hard to support all flavours of linux and user skill level.

Hope the new mobo sorts it

I appreciate the sentiment. And your assistance here too James.

However I would like to say that I have no objection to posts regarding any of the livecds here. I think I count at least 4 so far, and wouldn't be surprised to see more.

Of course the contributor and/or experienced users of each flavor will need to field the questions regarding their particular version.

It might be good to have a sticky thread or a wiki page comparing features. So far I believe my Mandriva based ZMliveCD is the only one that users can upgrade with a newer zoneminder package. Hopefully this will change in time.

I've started a Zoneminder Live CD site on sourceforge.net. My intent was to contact the other Live CD creator(s) and ask if they wanted to host their Live CD's on sf.net. I'm up for either using zoneminder forums, sf.net's forums (which are rather limited) or the Bluecherry forums (www.bluecherry.net/forums).

I think keeping everything together in one spot would be handy.

Anyway...if the creator(s) are interested in sf.net sharing and want to get with me either PM me or reply to this thread.

Also, this is ment with respect. Sometimes subtlty is hard to convey in text, and I don't want this to look like a flame, but I do disagree.

First, I like Ubuntu. It is slick, easy, and patch management is top notch. It is simple for a beginner, and easy for the lazy.

However, I have all kinds of Live CDs. This is because every distribution (or any software) occasionally pulls a bonehead move. Being able to quickly toss in a few different distributions (in my case, puppy and Mandriva) can be a real handy tool! I have used the Mandriva Live CD to "fix" my Ubuntu solution on more than one occasion. I agree that it can be hard to support everything. But We have a few Debian people, and a few others. While Mandriva is not my Linux of choice, I am not totally clueless in it. And I am a big proponent of having lots of tools in my toolbox.

As to where to offer support, I say here. Segmentation of the skilled user base is bad for everyone. Would James come to the BlueCherry Live CD support forum? Probably not. Could he have a useful insight to a BlueCherry Live CD? I would bet on it. I try and read most of the posts here. Even the ones I don't understand at all. Occasionally I learn something, and occasionally I have some input. On even rarer occasions, I have input in a thread I never would have guessed. Sometimes I don't...

But, not having a Live CD of my own, I only have a say as part of the fan base.
