ZM fails after reboot.

Post by rsdvd »

Hi All

I have had a working ZM server for several weeks, but since a reboot it has stopped working.

When I change the 'Run State', I get the following in the logs
Sep 19 18:06:03 topaz zms[9527]: ERR [Shared memory not initialised by capture daemon]
Sep 19 18:06:07 topaz zmpkg[9534]: INF [Command: start]
Sep 19 18:06:08 topaz zmdc[9549]: INF [Server starting at 07/09/19 18:06:08]
Sep 19 18:06:10 topaz zmdc[9549]: FAT [Can't bind: Address already in use]
Sep 19 18:06:18 topaz zmdc[9547]: FAT [Can't connect: Permission denied]
Sep 19 18:06:18 topaz zmpkg[9534]: ERR [Unable to run "/usr/bin/zmdc.pl startup", output is "Starting server"]
If I try and start the ZM service from the commandline, I get :
service zoneminder start
Starting zoneminder: Can't connect: Permission denied at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/ZoneMinder/Debug.pm line 349
ZoneMinder::Debug::Fatal('Can\'t connect: Permission denied') called at /usr/bin/zmdc.pl line 167
Can anyone suggest what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance

Check the permission on any .sock file you may in /tmp (or whether your ZM_PATH_SOCKS points to). They should be owned by apache (or your web user) and not root. You can safely remove any you find anyway.

Brilliant!

thanks that was the problem. I removed the file and now I have successfully restarted that zoneminder server.

I am now back to 2 zoneminder severs and 7 cameras :-)
