If SMS alerts are of interest to anyone, and Internet access is available, I can recommend the MercurySMS tool (http://www.mercury.uk.net/mercurysms/) in conjunction with one of the many web-based gateways. I personally use the VGSMail gateway (http://www.vgsmail.com/) which costs 6.6p/message and provides exceptional reliability and accountability (all texts are tracked as far as possible and can be reviewed online if need be) - I've never had a failure/delay in the several years I've been using it.
A nice toolset to have around - although you'll find yourself using it for all sorts of things like low-disk warnings, spontaneous reboot alerts etc!
