Apologies up front if this is in the wrong forum. I'm attempting to setup a security/survelliance system for my home and I need some basic advice to point me in the right direction.
What I have: Ubuntu 7.10 and a wireless router.
What I want:
* I would prfer to get some sort of Wireless Camera that can handle outdoor use. Most of the cameras would be under overhangs so they would be protected directly from the weather, but we can get cold here. (My house is not ideal for running cables long distances)
* Audio is not necessary
* Color, while nice, is not absolutly necessary.
* Nightvision would be nice, but the since the cameras would most likely be next to motion sensitive lights, I don't know if it's a 100% must.
* Panning/zooming, etc is not 100% necessary as I'd position the cameras to cover specific areas.
* If possible I would like to spend less then $200 per camera (less then $150 would be nice if I could pull that off).
I've done some research out there, but I'm afraid I might be barking up the wrong tree, so any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.
