Behavior detection instead of motion detection

Post by ELMIT »

I got a request to build a "surveillance system" so that it can detect behavior instead just motion.

Is there anything available? Is somebody doing something like that?

Examples:
1. How long is a customer watching a product before he buy or walk away?
2. Is it a female or a male watching the product?
3. Did the patient fall down?

The answer of that would trigger the nurse to go immediately to the patient. Or how to promote articles better.

bye

Nothing remotely close.

There is no way for the computer to determine gender especially in just 2d. It's just a bunch of colored pixels as far as it is concerned.

You might be able to determine if some thing is in a spot to long, so long as when someone leaves, it is as it was exactly before in the cameras field of view in a very controlled environment. Lighting and objects in the camera view would not be able to change. If some one put something out of place, then you would have a constant alarm (move a chair, place a book on the table, etc.).

There is stuff like this available but you will have to remortgage your house. Analytics is big business at the mo in the UK. Very very specialist. Ive played with one but thats all. OTT for 99% of installs. ANPR would be of more use to normal bods like us. But fyi

indigo is basic analytics and there is some more advanced stuff coming but the time and investment in this is huge, more than Phil can do with low donations
