image delay
image delay
Hi guys!
Hopefully you can assist me with my little problem. I recently upgraded my zoneminder hardware from a pentium III, 650 Mhz with 512 Mb in memory to a bit more powerful pentium IV 3 Ghz, 4Gb memory and a lot more. All in all a much more powerful machine to have as a server for my 4 analog cameras that are connected through a Axis 240Q so all traffic is translated to IP before coming to the server. Now to the problem. I'm running the new system on a Ubuntu 7.04, while the old machine ran the Zoneminder installation setup (liveCD).
It was functioning quite well on my old machine (with a regular reboot) but on the new one the images are showing with a 3-12 second delay. While running a store and using the cameras to see if anyone is in the store, you basically have them at your office in that time.
I have tried to tweak the system around, but not having any luck I turn to you. Can anybody point me in the right direction. I don't think that I should have a lagging problem like this on a machine that is 4 times more powerful than the old one. But nothing I have tried have resulted in more current images than 3-12 second delay. Help would be greatly appreciated.

There are no settings different, I started out with the same settings as on the previous machine, I have however tweaked a lot around and don't have them anymore as I copied them. My old machine is gone to another place (Restin peace). I use 4 cameras set at low bandwidth and streaming jpeg images.
The cameras are set at 3 fps, with 7 fps on alarms. Ref image blend is set at 7, resolution 320X240.
Buffer settings: buffer size 40, warmup 25, pre event 15 post event 15, alarm fram count 1. Load on the machine is 0.4, disk usage 17%. Zoneminder version 1.22.3

as you are throttling on the server not on the ip server, are you using mjpeg or jpeg. if using mjpeg you can only throttle the fps on the sending device not the recieving
