Panasonic BL-C131A Support?

Post by d0t101101 »

I'm about to purchase a Panasonic BL-C131A, and wanted to see if any one has had success using this model's PTZ features with ZM.

I saw in the wiki that the following are supported:
Panasonic BL-C1, BLC-10, BL-C20, KX-HCM10 etc (including PTZ support)

The BL-C131A can be found for as little as $199, and offers quite a lot for the money.

I went ahead and ordered the camera. Amazons $199 price jumped to $265 overnight :( So I ordered it from newegg for $239.

Whenever it shows up, i'll test it out with ZM and report back. In the mean time if you have any tips to using this particular IP cam with ZM beyond whats mentioned on the forum/wiki, please let me know.

I hope to configure the camera to handle the motion/thermal detection, and send a 30fps VGA/audio feed to ZM (running on an old arcade cabinet :) ) when its tripped.

Thanks for pointing this out. After browsing around the forum I see that audio isn't supported yet. It would be great have the ability to trigger events based on audio level thresholds, or at least listen to audio while viewing live feeds. I hope to see this capability in future versions.

The camera showed up today, to my surprise. I was able to quickly get it working with ZM using the standard methods. Even the presets on the control page worked well using the Panasonic IP protocol.

One of the more interesting features it offers is the ability to use HTTP triggers for different on-camera detections (ie Thermal/Motion). This is great since it could be used to offload the processing to the camera, instead of using CPU on the ZM server. Under the setup page > Triggers > Send Notification When Triggered > Send HTTP Notification, you are given the following fields:

Host Name
Port No.
Login ID
Enter the Login ID HTTP server URL.
Password
Enter the Password HTTP server URL.
File Path

Looks like this could possibly be used in a similar fashion to the Axis 207 features cayfer developed ZM support for (with some work :) ), using HTTP instead of TCP notifications to notify ZM of motion AND thermal detections:

After using it for a few hours, the camera is nice over all, but the optics are lacking as expected... Lots of noise in moderately lit environments. I'll probably end up returning it and picking up an Axis 207w instead.

I'd say the Panasonic BL-C131A can be added to the ZM HCL.
