Cable options

Post by black6 »

I would like to wire my apartment complex and would have runs as long as 300'. Would it be possible to use Cat5, taking two of the wires per connection and use it to carry both the video and camera power? With the layout of the buildings if I were to use RG59 I would have to also run camera power to each building thus yet another wire to pull.

Thanks Lee.

Do you know of a good supplier in China for these and IR bullet cameras? I've looked on Alibaba but most of the suppliers want more for their products than I can buy them for on eBay.

As I have said in many posts here, the trick isn't finding the cheapest... The trick is finding the product that works. There was a shipment of cams we got about a year ago now. Looked fantastic on paper. Better yet, the would silk screen our logo on the sun shade! But the picture looked like absolute crap. We resold them on to another installer after carefully scraping off our logo and repainting the sun shade. That was a long day...

If you want to talk more specific, send me a PM.
