IP cameras and VideoServer

as i understand, video server is used with analog cameras to convert analog video stream to a digital video and store it in video server. With IP cameras, the video stream should be digital from the scratch. But how can I store and view it later? Is ZoneMinder capable of that?

IP cameras produce jpg files, either single or as part of a mjpeg stream. Zoneminder records these in an organised and event-based way ready for retrieval.
