You sound quite into this camera but how would you rate the images compared to other cameras? I thought the samples above lacked sharpness and the colour definition seemed quite off. Or were the shots taken in quite low (and incandescent) light?

The pictures I posted earlier were in low-light indeed...

The old Axis 2100 I had before had a little better image, however on 320x240 it was able to give max 10fps in full light! Plus, it featured some really stupid mechanism of improving low-light frames in detriment of the fps, so I kept having slipping/wowing fps recordings when light turned on and off... Wasn't able to turn this 'feature' off.

This model of course is not a top-quality one, however the price I paid for it (~42$ for a used one) can't be beat, because it features:
- more than 30fps at 352x288
- standard lens compatible
- officially supporting Jpeg frame query and Mjpeg stream push
- full documentation and no need to hack anything
- smaller size than the average IP cameras
- real-time audio over the IP connection (not interesting from today's ZM point of view, but could be useful)

I also had an Edimax IC1500 but that costed 3 times much, no standard lens, no way of extracting Mjpeg/Jpeg in a straight way... I had to sell it and I was happy I was able to!

I don't say it has the best picture quality, but I know there are many people out there like me who can't afford hundreds of $$ to spend on pro IP cameras, to secure their homes, not making bussiness out of it... Life is always a compromise, so this camera - a good compromise, imho. Afaik this model has ran out, anyway, so one can get it only in used condition.

Sure, I do appreciate that 'bang for the buck' is very relevant.

It is small too isn't it? Either that or an oversized box of matches! ;)

Thanks again for all the info - it's a useful level of detail for potential buyers.

Well I think all this info may be useful not only for owners of this model, but for other IP digitizers/cameras that come with the same Winbond chip.

I've been using one of these for a few weeks now, and I discovered that the mjpeg stream peaks only at 20-25 fps, while jpg stills grabbed peak at more than 30 fps.

It looks like it's better to use the jpg stills instead of the mjpeg feed.

One that is going to not give me endless problems, as I need/want to focus on zoneminder itself.

Just plug it in 8) It should work straight away, if you set it up like described.

Planet ICA-500 / Planet ICA-300

IP Cameras:
Planet ICA-500
Planet ICA-300 works similar as:

http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... _IP_NetCam

The URL of the JPEG image is
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/Jpeg/CamImg.jpg

It took me two years of researching and I was waiting for ZoneMinder 1.24, while my IP cameras are mjpeg not mpeg4...
Finally I found this topic on the forum... Thanks guys!!!
