No view on monitor when logged as a Authenticated user

Post by Boxscratcher »

While preparing the migration of my ZM Server 1.22.3 to a new HW platform running Ubuntu 7.10 LAMP Server, i faced the following problem :

- Installation process using Zoneminder over Ubuntu repositories run error free and I was able to access ZM main menu, I defined my camera & sources and tested with live Stills/streams in View mode = everything OK - i can see the sources
- Since I have different groups of users accessing the server and each of them using different view/source, I activated Authenticate user in the Systems configuration panel, defined the users, assigned them their respective sources and rights, restarted ZM as required and logged again with any of my newly created users = Not OK .... Nothing appears in my monitors/views... I also tried to switch from Still to Stream mode and from Cycle to montage without any change....Nothing displayed but a white board....
- Logged off and switched off Authenticate user logins mode, restarted ZM and I was again able to see my monitor views.....
- Tried all the possible (restart Apache, Mysql, ZM etc) and toggled Authenticate mode .... but :x no change....

Any hot tips to overcome this ....

Any support (and fortunatly solution) will be highly appreciated

Dear rDr4g0n

As promised my feedback.

Followed the instruction according your post http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11166

After toggling ZM_AUTH_RELAY to "none" everything fine (toggling to "plain" did not solved the issue)

Many thanks again for your help "Padre"

if ya scroll down that thread some more, there is a link to an updated install package. the ubuntu repository package is a few versions older, but the newer one allows you to use authentication (which is a good thing lol).

Note that after doing this you have to restart both ZM and your browser. That bit me a few times. :)
