Montage single column view

I want to see the montage view in a single column (similar to a sidebar view), however when I set "maximum number of monitor columns in the montage view" to 1, the result is wierd..

You get a montage view, which appears to be spaced correctly for the appropriate number of screens, but only the image for camera 1 is displayed.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

same behaviour is exibited on v1.22.2 and v1.23.2, so I posted here.

This is probably a bug. I will make a note to have a look. I can't say I ever tried it with one column.
