PTZ cabling

Post by josepy »

Just set up a PTZ camera and now I'm looking for cabling. I'd like to find a "single" cable that combines the video coax (BNC), power, and 2 wires for RS-485 controls. In all the searching I've done I'm not really finding what I want. Mostly what I've found is the coax & power combination.

Can anyone recommend a reliable company that makes such a cable at a reasonable price?

Thanks

Joe

Depending on the length, it may be cheaper to get a converter that passes power and ptz control signals through the coax, otherwise it's not standard and requires a special order to aquire it and is very expencive usualy three times more or worse.
It's usualy cheaper to get the Siamese Cable and the seperate for your rs485.

Video translators are not really cheap either but sure simplify the job if you can justify them.

You can also use CAT5, feeding the video via baluns through one pair and then using a pair each (or more) for power and PTZ. I really only use CAT5 nowadays.

Thanks Phil

After a lot of hunting I found a cable that I think fits my needs.

darkpaw,

I haven't actually received it yet, and I didn't actually inquire, but I'm counting on 2 for power, 2 for control and coax (BNC). if you blow the image up a bit thats what it looks like to me ;)

Thanks curtishall

Are you talking about this product: http://esentia.com/Products/203 or this product: http://store.bluecherry.net/product_p/v ... _ppins.htm

If it's the Bluecherry product make sure you send a picture of what you received to support@bluecherry.net so we can create a RMA. We do not want you receiving the wrong parts.
