LiveCD boots and then nothing

Post by skyshadow »

i downloaded 1.19.1 live cd and ran the md5sum and it matched. I burned it with my dvd rom and placed the cd in my cdrom on my linux server and ran md5sum and it also matched. I placed the cd in a computer with these specs:

Elitegroup k7sem motherboard
1.0 ghz AMD Duron processor
Samsung SV1022D MY 100 10 Gig Harddrive
Sony CD-RW 24x/10x/40x CRX175E2 CDrom
Onboard Agp video card

It gets to

Loading vmlinuz................
Loading initrd.gz...............................

and then nothing. Blank screen and no hdd or cdrom activity. The harddrive is formatted in ntfs if that matters. Is there anything in these specs that would cause this problem? After i reboot the filesystem is still intact on the hard drive so i know it isn't doing anything to the hard drive. That's about all i know. I have some experience with linux but not mandrake. So any help would be appriciated.

Thanks in advance

try switching off any autodetection (use the bootcodes)

so when the system starts over just turn off usb scsi etc..

when u're suspecting the hardware to cause problems just try this one:

livecd nousb noscsi safex nopcmcia nocow

if u need more bootcodes which might helt u try this document ;)

No Go. I tried disableing everything that has anything to do with anything in the bios but nothing works. Even tried a different cdrom and video card. I think it just doesn't like my board. I am going to just install redhat 7.3 and compile it on there. Thanks for the help

Well Now i know i need a boot disk. Apparently my bios won't boot this type of disk. So i need a boot disk. I am guessing that i need a boot disk for mandrake 10 community version so i am going to go looking for it and i'll check back incase i am wrong.
