No image - not even blue

I installed zoneminder some months ago, and finally want to use it for real... has been running, and doing fine (images and streams are being captured as it should when movement is there...)

For some reason, I don't get streaming or stills when looking at the monitor.
When zm recorded an alarm, I can view it without any issue through stills, but no video stream.
i installed and configured (as far as I can seen, correctly) the ffmpeg etc, but whatever setting used, no image in the monitor window...

ZM is 1.23.2, system is an intel Celeron 2.8GHz running Debian Etch updated

Anyone any idea?

Sounds like something is not correct in Apache. What says the logs?

I don't see anything in apache access or error log that might point me to an error or problem. Also /tmp/zm-whatever doesn't log any issues either...
where do you think I should be looking for issues?

Have you confirmed that you can stream using mjpegs?
Mjpeg working would confirm that tings in Apache are setup correctly.

ffmpeg has no real guarantees of working and since things change so rapidly with it patch's would be constantly changing so it takes a fair bit of mucking around to even get it to work properly.
