I think that will get it... Just picky it seems on the memory number that need to be placed into those values that were left out...right?
PCLinuxOS...
uses the aptitude system I noticed... tried to install openssh-server seemed to take but won't accept ssh does it respond like ubuntu and or fedora with service sshd restart or /etc/init.d/sshd restart?

I forgot to add these lines to /etc/sysctl.confIf this doesn't resolve these issues you will need to provide more info. See this postCode: Select all
kernel.shmall = 134217728 kernel.shmmax = 134217728
http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10820
This did resolve the 640x480 issue... however... the issue of the IP Camera is not resolved....
The camera worked in all other version of live cd including the Bluecherry version...
Is my best bet just to do a clean install of ZM from source that way it will be easier to manage? LiveCD Seems really easy!!!!
Just odd that the IP support now doesn't work very well...
the camera is a WVC54GCA
IP Address
/img/video.mjpeg
beyond that it should work but doesn't.
any ideas?
------------------------------
Knew I shouldn't have posted so quick on that one... Darn...
Okay here is what I did...
OPtions > Network >
Checked top box to enable
ZM_OPT_REMOTE_CAMERAS
Changed
ZM_HTTP_VERSION 1.0 from 1.1
Restarted ZM Service from the Console
And recreated a monitor...
Now both are running 640x480. Much better!
Also Thanks!
any particular reason for not seeing the events in this view on this version?
should be this from what I gather:
Instead I get this...
and I do have events...
Not sure but I think I'm missing something easy... Didn't see it yelling at me in the forums and didn't catch this in the options or documentation.. So back here seeing what I might have missed yet again...

Ok, I'm back after some trials. Not sure if this ^ was just a typo but my zmfilter.log is located at /var/log/zm/zmfilter.log.rdmelin wrote:You could double check by examining /var/log/zmfilter.log and looking for the backup files in /var/lib/zm and .sql files in each event directory.
I'm not trying to nitpick. The reason I bring it up is that I had problems with the first install. It ran well from the live CD and seemed to run well at first HD boot but later froze. I reinstalled a few times using the suggested partition scheme in the instructions but had various errors; recursion in /var, could not find/start mysql.d and probably some others.
I finally just allowed the installer to use the whole disk and do it's own thing which makes it all work very well so far. It's been running w/ 3 cameras in monitor mode for a couple of weeks now with only some minor issues with my customizations, i.e. sshd, webmin, etc.
Disabling KDM at startup seems to work well, though, and frees up a lot of ram.
Also, I just kept the default user 'user' and now have a large /home/user partition and no separate /var partition. Not really a major problem but deviates from the documentation.
I was looking into shrinking or even deleting the /home/user directory but the directory rpm and config contain some seemingly essential files, such as:
Code: Select all
[root@localhost ~]# ls /home/user/

Obviously my abbreviated skills are probably just enough to get me into trouble but I get by.
My hardware is on a Biostar U8068(oem) micro-atx board P4 1.8 with some via chipset (yuck) 9 gig WD expert (i think) and 640MB ram. I disabled the onboard graphics and net, and slipped in an old agp card and a gigabit dlink pci card.
Hopefully this report will help.
cheers!

im not so sure not having a var partition is a good idea. I always have used a dedicated var.
ALso 9Gig? is that right? If so you probably dont yet have a purge when full filter running and if you had a smaller than 9 gig partition it would have filled up very very quickly indeed. Probably the reason for your previous errors.

Exactly my point!jameswilson wrote:im not so sure not having a var partition is a good idea.
That is correct. AFAICT I don't have any filters running. All cameras are in monitor mode. It is running fine now. Once I get it all figured out I intend to have it mount a directory on my file server for storage.jameswilson wrote:ALso 9Gig? is that right? When I got the previous errors I never even got past the first boot. Call me dense but I don't see how a recursion issue would have anything to do with a full partition.jameswilson wrote:Probably the reason for your previous errors.

agreed a full /var wouldnt stop it booting but it would prevent mysql and probably apache from starting

hey, rd, nice to read ya.
and
and
is the output of the current setup which has been running famously now for a few weeks. All 3 cams are in monitor mode, though. So I assume there's not much, if any, database action. And this is with the drive setup with the default/automatic choices made by the installer.
I'm going to try the custom/suggested partition scheme on a spare disk shortly and post the results here.
thanks

Filters still broken?
Using ZMLinux2008 live cd installed to the harddisk accepted the install using entire hard disk option. Filters are not working I get this in the message log
Nothing seems to be appearing in the zmfilter.log but when i try to run /usr/lib/zm/zmfilter.pl from the command line i get this error
ps had zoneminder running on ubuntu and was working nicely had troubles at first with filters got them mostly working but could not get it to send email so i thought i would try this live CD.

did they work before you added an email filter?

Ok thanks for your reply i have made some progress ended up installing some missing perl modules like below and those errors went away.
perl -MCPAN -e shell
install Archive::Tar
install MIME::Entities
install Archive::Zip
However i am still not getting emails to work
At first zmfilter complained about not having a from address the only place i could find the from address was in the ZM_FROM_EMAIL which is kind of confusing as it seems to be in the ZM_NEW_MAIL_MODULES section which I do not have enabled.
Once the ZM_FROM_EMAIL was filled in zoneminder seems to send the emails HOWEVER i never receive them.
If the the ZM_NEW_MAIL_MODULES is checked zoneminder tries to send them lots of times apparently but i still never get anything in my email account.
Also nothing shows up in the /var/mail/info error or warning logs
My isp as most do these days block port 25 but my email server firewall is set to forward on port 325 to 25. Not sure how zoneminder is sending (or in my case not sending) emails. This could be the problem can i set zoneminder to send its emails on port 325??
Am i the only one using this CD is this the LiveCD to be using hehe?
