Been trying for days to get this working, can you help?

Post by ditalian »

Iv tried everything from ubuntu 8 to ubuntu 7.1 to centos to livecd's....

Live cds have always worked...however all of them have there flaws...they either crash after a couple minutes (livecd2008) or after a couple hours they hang to no end (bluecherry)

Currently I have a FRESH install of ubuntu 7.1 I installed all the dependencies needed aswell as a .deb file provided here of zm

Everything installs fine

I run xawtv -c /dev/video0 and i can see video PERFECTLY

through zm......black screen
In the log I get:

Code: Select all

Sep 13 16:38:20 camera-server zmwatch[5505]: INF [Restarting capture daemon for Outside, shared memory not valid]
Sep 13 16:38:20 camera-server zmdc[6739]: INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' started at 08/09/13 16:38:20]

and iv tried increasing the shmall and shmmax and same deal...

my dmesg output is as follows:

I just dont understand how xawtv views it fine and zm just is always black? What could I be doing wrong?

Oh also I went into the BIOS and disabled a bunch of stuff hopeing maybe it was an IRQ issue...however again...the card works fine in xawtv

Please if anyone can, give me a hand

Thanks

Have you tried turning on debug, upping the level and checking zmdc.log, messages, and the apache error_log?

There will be something more descriptive other than "shared memory not valid" which only means that for some reason zmc was unable to capture from the device and didn't put anything in shared memory.
