I'm thinking of getting an 8 port capture card from Bluecherry. I understand about having to share monitors on a chip. But...is there any detriment to using 4 monitors on an 8 port card? Does it perform the same as 4 monitors on a 4 port card? $20 seems worth the money to have the flexibility to add a new monitor for testing, are waiting to add another card...etc.
Can you control which monitors get assigned their own chip and which get shared?
4 port vs 8 port
No, there is no detriment to using 4 monitors on a 8 port card, 4 capture chip card. It'll behave just like a 4 port, 4 capture chip card.
Yes you are able to control which capture chip and port number a monitor uses.
I agree with your logic, if it doesn't cost much more to get a card with more ports that little extra money is well spent for the flexibility it gives you.
