Hi
First, After a break-in into my house , I decide to install some alarm. Browsing the web come up with ZoneMinder, which the installation went smooth (I'm using Ubuntu Hardy), and work well with some very old USB Web camera. Few fays ago, I bought new Logitech QuickCam and first, had problem working with ZM because the v4l2 issue. I found this link which make it work.
I have to say it a great application!
Some feature I miss is when analyzing a motion detected video, there are the red blocks that mark the changes in the picture.
It will be great to have them on the live when setting up zones.
Also, It will be nice to mark the zone that catch the motion.
This will make the zones editing much easier.
Thanks,
Rotem.
Video the motion detected blockes online
Actually both features already exist,
If you enable ZM_RECORD_EVENT_STATS you can peer at the still allarmed images and it will give you a "stats" link next to the event number in the top left corner, It will tell you the zone as well as a lot more statistical information about the alarm. This information is only logged on alarmed frames in mocord or modect modes.
You can also enable ZM_RECORD_DIAG_IMAGES In addition to recording event statistics you can also record the intermediate diagnostic images that display the results of the various checks and processing that occur when trying to determine if an alarm event has taken place. There are several of these images generated for each frame and zone for each alarm or alert frame so this can have a massive impact on performance. Only switch this setting on for debug or analysis purposes and remember to switch it off again once no longer required.

the ZM_RECORD_EVENT_STATS give the stats only on the pre saved alarms,
I dont find any way to do it on real time alarm action. Also, as I see it only get the 'Active' type zones on active alarm, so I dont know if a zone catch the movement, but the alarm canceled because of other zone, like 'Preclusive'.
The ZM_RECORD_DIAG_IMAGES indeed save images with the diff but that not what I mean, and again, not displayed on Real time.
It will be nice to see on real time any zone that catch a movement, regardless it active alarm or not. (including 'Preclusive' zones).
Thanks,
Rotem.
