It appears to be doing it for all 4 cameras.

Is there a method for installing zoneminder that *just works*? I am only using it for this legacy system since every install I have dealt with has had issues of some degree...

Was getting a suid-perl error at start and stop via command line, installed perl-suid package to fix that (Why isn't this in the dependencies?)

I see you have had debug turned on, have you taken a peek at any of the debug logs as they would have a bit more detail?

ok so if i run three cameras (320x240) alone it *seems* fine, but adding the 4th one with 640x480 resolution bombs. The same hardware has run more than this before, and top reports cpu usage and memory has oomph to spare.

So obviously the 4th camera is to blame, somehow.

It is an IK-WB11A Toshiba.

I have used them in the past with no issue.

Gonna try* to debug the one camera.

Zoneminder needs to sell support, or someone for it. I gave up installing this stuff last year, because my customers were getting upset with the amount of maintenance it requires.

I am open for suggestions on the last part.

meh is there any way to have the debug log one file? It has a bunch of info spread across a bunch of files. Very much a PIA to parse and post when in console.

Good to know about the support. I have a few clients I am still eating crow on to keep running. If anything financially viable comes along i'll reconsider how I am supporting the new clients.

One thing's for sure, monthly service contracts are mandatory for this now.

So 404 means that ZM is talking to the camera but the path given was not found by the camera.

Check your path for that cam and make sure you have no typos.

To have it dump in one file just remove the "+" at the end of the debug log settings.
Click the little "?" on each description to get a bit more detail on each feature.

as far as the camera path goes I have tested it and it works outside of zoneminder

Testing that with the actual IP of the location shows me a static image.

Unfortunately this box is a reinstall. The original install died after *trying* to update to 1.23 as the Lib Serialization stuff never quite worked on this box. I could get the filter perl script to run by itself, but it never actually kept the box's /var partition from filling up.

I ended up reinstalling Ubuntu to the latest LTS and installing from packages, hoping it would be a sure fire way to have a stable system... (BTW ffmpeg and perl-suid for some reason didn't get installed with the .deb package. I guess these arten't mandatory dependencies, even though both are stated to be used)
