Are you saying that "apt-get -f install" didn't pick everything up for you?elliot wrote:
So following the README.txt file I did
sudo dpkg -i zoneminder_1.23.3-3_i386.deb
Then it complained about needing the "libphp-serialization" thingy. So I went ahead and did
sudo dpkg -i libphp-serialization-perl_0.27-1_all.deb
I went back and tried to install zoneminder again and I got the laundry list of dependencies that I needed. Using apt-get or aptitude would not automatically install them
zoneminder_1.23.3-3_i386.deb

Re: Ununtu gutsy install
I got it working
Peter,
I think the problem has been me all along, So I'm an idiot. If you noticed in my first post I said:
"Ok, so I have read the Forum and tried to find an answer to my question ahead of time. I also follow the instruction here:
ftp://www.northern-ridge.com.au/zonemin ... README.txt
to install ZM after I installed Ubuntu 7.04. "
I used the README.txt from the 1.22.3 folder because I did not see any README in the gutsy folder
Well all I know is that I was installing 1.23.3 version of ZM found here:
ftp://www.northern-ridge.com.au/zonemin ... ntu/gutsy/
on Ubuntu 7.04 desktop and I ran into problems. Maybe I was installing the wrong version? I thought 7.04 was "Gutsy". The 7.04 that I had came directly from the Ubuntu CD that they mailed to me.
Well to make a long story short I installed Ubuntu 8.04 Server and everything did fine. apt-get install zonemandinder handled everything. So, sorry for all the trouble.

Re: I got it working
If it's confusing it's a problem. I haven't touched the README.txt for a long time. What you've done is highlight that I need to go over what's in the ftp area . . .elliot wrote:

And clean the garage! It's filthy! I have been there. I cleaned my office and found something I needed so badly that I just bought one again.
