Using AXIS and ZMTrigger to minimize bandwidth

Post by simpsonlang »

I followed the details in the following link and was able to configure my cameras to use the motion detection built into the AXIS cameras. Kudos to the author.

This worked great to reduce the CPU load however I see that ZoneMinder still pulls the images from the cameras over the network continuously and when it gets a trigger event then it actually saves them.

Is it possible to configure ZoneMinder to not pull images at all until it gets a trigger request? I know this would eliminate the pre event images collection and could cause other issues when the system gets loaded (i.e. nothing in the buffer). However it would make it feasible to deploy a couple cameras on the other end of a poor network link to one system that is very beefy. Otherwise I will have to deploy a ZM system at each location.
