No picture in Zones ?
No picture in Zones ?
Hi,
I got ZM 1.19.4 running on my brand new Fedora Core 2 / Hauppauge WinTV Express / Velleman CMOS Mini Colour Camera (CAMCOLMHA3). Everything seems ok except I can not get a zone picture in Zones pop-up and there is nothing in 'images' directory. Events display ok from the 'events' directory.
I had some perl errors ( MIME:Entity, zmfilter.pl line 87 ) in the log. After some CPANning the log shows no errors.
Any ideas what might be wrong ?
Snapshot at http://cfm.kymi.com/zm/zm_k_snapshot.png
TIA and best regards to everyone,
Aarni

Hi Aarni,
This looks to me like it might be a permissions error on one or more of the directories under your main ZM install location (e.g. /var/www/html/zm). The 'images' and 'events' subdirectories should be owned and writeable by your web user (apache usually).
Check this first and if they are ok have a look through the logs as per the Troubleshooting section of the README.

Phil,
Permissions ok - lotsa httpd errors
Hi,
Permissions are ok for apache, but something else is definitely wrong, I have loads of this in httpd error log. Something to do with php tuning and php.ini ? I am by no means a php-guy, more of a ColdFusion sort, so I am lost here.
Appreciate any help.
Best regards,
Aarni

The errors in the httpd log aren't errors as such but just 'notice' level messages from php. Normally these are turned off in php.ini by including the line
error_reporting (E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE);
alternatively you can just put it in zm.php, you'll see where a similar line is already in there for turning on notice level messages.
Although these messages aren't errors they can sometimes screw things up so try again first with them off. Otherwise check the other ZM and messages logs and see if there is something more significant in there. The fact you can get a zones image still leaves me inclined towards permissions as all that view does is dump a zones image and then display it. Still, the logs may have other info.

Hullou,
One tick missing somewhere ...
Still no Zone image, just blank square and nothing in 'images' directory. Nevertheless, and meanwhile, my Mozilla 1.7.2 is happily streaming the Watch view. Events and alarms occur with the default Zone + its settings ok. Strange but true ...

The image is just generated by libjpeg.a without which ZM will not compile.
Have you tried manually generating a zone image with zmu -z? That might at least give a bit of a clue. Do zmu -h for full instructions and remember to check /var/log/messages to see if anything goes wrong. If not it should create an image in your current directory.

Phil,
Working ok now !
Hi,
And thanks for all the help. You were right, it was a permissions issue. In MySQL, I thought I had the unpriviledged user permissions ok ...
Still, I learned a lot looking around this and that.
How would I go about installing a new language ? And of course, sharing the file ? (zm_lang_fi_fi.php)
Thanks again,
Aarni
