I'm running Zoneminder 1.23.3 under Ubuntu 8.10.
I'm running MODETECT with a 320x240 Security Cam, on a Bluecherry PV-149 4-port Capture Card.
Things work quite well, for the most-part. However, at least once every other day (sometimes more often) Zoneminder will enter ALARM state - and stay there. There is NO movement - rather, it is the changing light that seems to be causing the alarm state.
Recording will continue for sometimes an hour or more - I find I have to FORCE the alarm to cancel by either disabling it or going into ZONES and clicking 'save' to reset the zone status.
The camera has an outside view - so often the rising/setting sun will cause shadows and/or light changes which normally are not caught as alarms - except for the times it records for a fairly long time.
Once I stop the alarm state - it's usually fine again for another day or two.
I'd like to know if there is some-way to determine why the alarm state is continuing - or to force an alarm closed after X period of time (I've been through the FAQ and the Docs - but this option doesn't jump-out at me).
Thank you for any assistance.
Michael

Got it on another server also!
I've got one server at home Ubuntu 8.10 and one server at my store Ubuntu 8.04 both with 1.23.3.
Today i noticed extreme long recordings on my store server.
The only thing i did on that server was running the updatemanager last week.
Maybe it's not zoneminder but something what came up with the update.
Any help appreciated

Working Better - Issue seems to be solved
I had an issue with Zone maintenance - so I removed all zones and restarted everything from scratch. This includes a reboot to reset the Video hardware (probably not necessary).
Now I have what appears to be proper functioning triggers and MODETECT recordings. In fact - the false positives caused by sunlight hitting my driveway and car seems to have been resolved as well.
I have not had an extended 10 or 15 minute (or longer) recording in a week now.
I have two zones - 1 set by Pixels and the other by Percent (a smaller zone).
I've kept similar settings to the previous zones - but it just seems to be working better now.
So for anyone else who appears to be having issues - attempt to remove all zones and start-over.
Thank you
