Dropped frames on NAS storage.

Post by cgslp »

I'm running ZoneMinder 1.24.1 on freebsd with 35 remote cameras.

This is my hardware config:

35 remote cameras at 352*240 @4fps
The server is dual xeon with 2gb of ram
NAS (Network-Attached Storage), both the server and the NAS use gigabit cards (with gbit switch) and use NFS.

Originally the load was 50%, but got a big boost by using jpeg+simd lib, now the load is at about 20% (80% idle).

Locally it records ok: 600 secs ~ 2400 frames

The problem is when I try to store the images in the network storage, it loses a lot of frames: 600 secs ~ 1200 - 1400 frames.

Also there are some overrun errors in the logs.

When you playback (NAS), there are noticeable gaps, ie, it skips 5 seconds.

I tried zmf, but I get lots of errors (incorrect write chars). The socket size is adjusted to the image sizes.

Do you have any sugestions in making this work?

Someone has actually used NFS for the storage?

Should I try to make zmf work?

Thanks in advance.
