BT878 Sync problems

Post by adderd »

I am trying to use 1.24.1 ZoneMinder with two no name cards. Each one as a BT878 chip (4 analog video, 1 audio).

I have all eight inputs filled. When I look at the video within the monitor (in ZoneMinder) it's very likely to be improperly syncronized. What I mean by this is that the frame will not be properly layed out top to bottom. The top of the frame might be a third of the way down and then the frame wraps back around from the bottom to the top. This isn't static either. The frames jump up and down and all around and just do not stay locked. Is there some good reason for this? Is there any way for me to stabilize this video?

Have you got the capture palette and device format set up correctly for each input device?

I set them all to NTSC M for the device format. I believe that's correct as I'm in the US and these are standard cameras. I set the color palette to GRAY for all cameras. Some of them are really color but I don't think this should make a difference... Should it?

I have managed to make my situation even better. Now each four channel card only displays one camera image. Oh, there's four channels but all four channels display the exact same image. It's not switching between channels at all.

Since I was having all this trouble with my install of ZoneMinder I downloaded the 1.24.1 Live CD and used the install option to put it on my HDD. It has the exact same four channels = 1 picture problem. What is going on?

It sounds like you card is not configured correctly. That or it is so cheaply made that you are getting video bleed between the inputs.
