No image after installation

Post by naoli »

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble seeing anything with ZM 1.24.1. I followed the tutorial and the installation run OK on my ubuntu 8.10 distro.

I've got 2 usb webcams (one on /dev/video1, the other one /dev/video2 : checked with cheese and motion, both confirm paths), but no image. Both works with cheese and motion, so it shall not be a hardware problem.

One gives nothing :

and the other one gives nothing good :

The first one is in red in the console, the second one in orange.

Nothing on the /var/log/messages, no special error. My parameters are :

Have you tried setting the format in ZM to PAL?
What do you get in the debug logs for zmc with the debug turned up?

Which one ? I tried PAL B, PAL N, Pal 60. No change.

Well I've been through this readme and through the doc without seeing where it's explained. Must be somewhere, but I can't find it. Could you please kindly tell me how to enable debug ? :)

What type of usb camera's are they? If they are v4l2 devices and can use UVC, install mjpg_streamer and be done with all the 50 differnet options to pick from in Zoneminder.

Just pick remote device, use localhost and correct port, correct res size, and the path /?action=stream and your good. To test your camera and see if it will even work with mjpg_streamer, type mjpg_streamer at the command prompt and see if it starts up one of your camera's or spits out errors. You'll know right away if it works.

BTW, if they are usb then run lsusb to see info on them.

Hi, thanks for the answer. I can't install mjpg_streamer on my 64 bit CPU... :(
But yes, they are v4l2 devices and can use UVC.
