Via C3 processor

Post by ashdavely »

I was trying to run the LiveCD on an older motherboard with an 866mhz Via C3 cpu. When I boot from the CD I get an error message that says "unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU." Is there any way I can get it to work on this mobo?

I don't think so. Built on Arch Linux, all packages are compiled for i686.

I switched to another motherboard and have it working. I'm using an old bt878 (qleadtek) TV tuner card that has 1 composite rca and 1 s-video inputs with the intention of using 2 cameras. When I view the monitor I see TV static which I presume is from the tv tuner input. I created another monitor and configured it for the other port (/dev/video0 1 ...etc) but it still only see the TV static. How do configure it for the other composite inputs?

bt878 has 4 channels so it has to be /dev/video0 and channel 0,1,2, or 3. I've never seen a bttv card that didn't work this way.

I got it working using this page:

This is an extremely common tv card. Thanks for your help!
