setting up more than one local camera

Post by ionet »

Hello i have zoneminder 1.22.3 running on ubuntu 8.04 in a P4 machine with 1 Gig of ram.

I have configured 2 identical logitech quickcam chat webcams, my problem is that only one can fuction at any given time, if i disconnect the working cam, then the other one starts working. i tried setting it up with ubuntu, kubuntu, fedora and xubuntu but i get the same results.

please help.

You will have to look into settings in the driver, it a driver problem that is unfortunately pretty common with usb cams. I don't use USB cams like this so I can't be of much use to you bt at least you know where to dig.

I´ve benn searching a lot for a solution to this problem, but i cant seem to find a solution, i have reinstalled my drivers, checked the compatibility list and there are no problems, the webcams can function independently but not at the same time with zoneminder.
Any help would be greatly apreciated

Have you tried putting them on separate usb controllers?
most main boards have at least two. ie the ones in the back would likely be on a separate controller from the ones in the front.
