Very slow console

I'm running the latest zm build, and over the past two days zm has been acting _very_ slow. Tonight I logged in to view the events for the day and I can't even connect. I thought maybe apache freaked out, or mysql and i restarted both. I noticed that apache was responsive, so I figured something broke inside zm. I ran zmaudit -y, and nothing was found. I poked around and mysql is running fine.

I have two monitors, both using motion dection. The first monitor had around 300 events, the second had around 400 events. This shouldn't cause zm to totally bog down...should it?

just sits and sits...nothing going on...

I tried manually deleted the Events using mysql, and then ran zmaudit -y. I still have the problem.

The main query in the console window isn't the quickest in the world (it is faster in the next version) but should inly take a second or so. Have you tried using mysqlcheck to see if your db may be a bit broken. Alternatively do a pz and see if there are any bogus zm processes stuck lying around.

something is _totally_ screwed up. I went to bed and did a 'time php index.php', and 8 hours laters it's still doing nothing...

As usual, I would check /var/log/messages but also as I mentioned do a 'ps -edalf' or equivalent and grep for zm in the results. People have occasionally reported zombie processes and you may have one of these. If so I'd like to get to the bottom of why.

One zmc process is defunct'ed. I'll try a reboot here in a while to see if that will fix it.

rebooting fixed the problem, i hope this doesn't happen again...i'd hate to have a system sitting in the middle of no where that doesn't record...
