Please, can anyone provide exact camera settings? Specs incl

Post by Jim March »

Folks, I'm really dying here. I appear to have ZM 1.24.1 running. I have a single BT878 board in and one camera plugged into /dev/video0 and I think the first (0?) port.

The camera is a Swann small security camera. I'm in the US, the camera is marked -US in a sticker so it should be NTSC. According to the specs, that means it's 510 height by 492 width, and "380 lines" TV resolution (horizontal).

I can get it to work with xawtv with the command:

Code: Select all

xawtv -device /dev/video0
When I took a screenshot of the resulting image and cropped it down to just the image via Kolourpaint, it reports a resolution of 380x284.

I've tried every conceivable resolution and setting in ZM to get this damned camera working. Nothing doing. I'm at my wit's end. Somebody has to have a clue how to make ZM talk to this camera!?

Under the "source" tab I've got:

Device Path = /dev/video0

Capture method = Video for Linux version 2 (is that correct!?)

Device Channel is "0" (and I've tried more up through 9...)

Device format is NTSC (and there's other "NTSC variants available like "NTSC M" and the like...huh?)

Capture Palette is "RGB24" right now - I assume that's right?

Capture width = tried all sorts of stuff!

Capture height = ditto

"Preserve aspect ratio" is "off" right now.

Orientation is "normal".

Please GOD or anybody, why won't ZM see this camera?!?

Output from xawtv:

Code: Select all

zmuser@zmuser-camerastation:~$ xawtv -device /dev/video0

Somebody mentioned checking the "apache error log" with no info as to how to find it or what to check. Does that sound right, and can somebody provide more detail?
