I'm having trouble getting Zoneminder to work right on the Desktop version of 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope.
I had Zoneminder running on the same machine under 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon, but something went flooey and Modect stopped working (system update also stopped working right).
I have managed to get Zoneminder running under 9.04, but I'm not getting an image from the camera. Note: I AM getting an image in XawTV, so I know the camera works.
When I attempt to view the camera in Zoneminder I just get a black picture. In the Settings menu for the camera the Brightness, Contrast, Hue, and Color all have values of -1, and when I try to change them it just changes them back to -1.
Any suggestions?
Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 Desktop?
It's a moot point at this juncture. I decided to try and just start over from scratch and have now completely mucked up the system.kingofkya wrote:go explore you logs post what you find it will be easier to help you
I'll post back when I have the system up and running again as to whether I'm still having problems (I think I missed a step in my last install attempt).
Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 Desktop? continued
Well, I got everything reinstalled, and Zoneminder is running again. But...
I still get a black square instead of an image.
I cannot change the Brightness/Contrast/Hue/Color settings for the camera. When I try it just resets them to "-1".
I have been using Synaptic Package Manager to install everything possible (i.e. Zoneminder). When I get finished with all my stuff for today I may try installing from scratch again - this time using the command line compile method from the installation instructions for 9.04 Server in the WIKI.

Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 Desktop? - Success
No, I'm a little confused on how to do that. I don't remember having to do that in my previous installation on 7.10, which ran 24/7 for about a year and a half. However...kingofkya wrote:did you set the shared memory ?
It's WORKING!
The instructions in the WIKI - http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... rver_32bit didn't mention the need to use zmfix:
Code: Select all
sudo chmod 4755 /usr/bin/zmfix
zmfix -a
Once I ran zmfix I was immediately able to access the camera and (as far as I can tell) everything seems to be working fine. I won't really know until at least tomorrow though - I don't have enough light at the camera location (100 feet away from our house viewing the driveway) to see more than a couple of feet beyond the lens. And I'll need some long term testing situations to refine my Zone settings.
