need advice on ir lighting

ok my camera has night vision of about 3 meters, it cannot see the door to my flat from the end of the front room it is in, moveing it is not an option. what i want to do is create a ir light source above the door (on the inside ofcourse) perferably batterie operated, i dont mind a diy kit but would prefer a prebuilt unit i can just stick to the ceiling and would only have to change the batteries in yearly (or 3 monthly) so led is the way to go.

any and all suggestions appreciated
