CentOS5 FireFox3.5 Saved Session window don't do it!

Post by bertlf »

Ok, So after many trial and errors i finally got ZoneMinder working. I was using an unsupported capture card with no luck. A friend had a PV-155 that we could use so I tried that.
First I had to get the latest version of ZoneMinder installed as I was using 1.24.1 and have read here that many things were fixed in 1.24.2 So I went that route. Last night I finally got it working and it looked pretty good, considering the rather lo-grade camera.
At 2:00 am I decided to tweak it some. ..........
I opened firefox 3.5 with the ZM console and several other windows. I opened the Astak site to get the camera spec to try different window sizes. Astak needed flash so I downloaded flash ( I thought this was already on this sever anyway), and saved my window session which also contained a settings window for my only added monitor. Closed Firefox 3.5 and did the flash rpm. I reloaded the saved session. I decided to try the exact settings for the camera as stated on thier site in the ZM monitor settings window ( the one that was saved from the sesssion manager) . I made the changes 510X492 and clicked SAVE.

SH*T ,,SAVE KILLED ME IT DID NOT SAVE ME. <IHTMULaugh>
ZoneMinder TOTALLY does not like it if you reuse a saved window. The server instantly hung, no keyboard, no mouse, no nothing.
I did a hard reboot and now I have a dead server. The server will begin to boot, but only makes it to just before the login screen.

Server Details
CentOS5
Intel Celeron 512MB RAM
PV155 Capture Card
Latest ffmpeg
Zoneminder 1.24.2

Everything worked great before this.

HELP
I feel more like I do now than I did when I got here!

Interactive Login Saved Me

Post by bertlf »

I used the interactive boot process and said NO to ZM the last listed service and got back my login.
Now just what to fix.
Before I change anything are there any logs or anything you dev folks want to make this not happen to others?

Come to think of it I have no idea were to look or what to change!

Where can I look? maybe sql and delete that one monitor?

SQL Query result for monitors!

Post by bertlf »

Well even though it crashed ZM saved the changes I made. Here is the result from an SQL query on the monitor table.
OK I don't know how to paste html, csv, or formatted text here to show the query.
I did save it and now I am going to delete this monitor and start zm to see waht gives.

Your best bet and the best information you can offer us is any errors that are in the logs.
Unless you changed the path, when you build from source the default log location is in /tmp.

Also check your system logs for any related error messages.
