It seems as soon as I find a CCD some what decent cam it seems to be missing one feature or anouther. I am in canada and am going to a island for a buddy to setup a bunch of cams. Its very hot there in fact as I write this its 35 C + out side. They do get rain so it has to be able to take some rain!
I am planning on setting up something facing the house that has a PTZ and some thing clear enough to make out faces so something with ccd! (I am not as experienced on whats available) It does not have to be the latest with triple ccd it just has to be able in low light or bright sun to clearly make out who is who better then a cheap web cam.
I want to do this with wireless wpa since wep is way to easy to crack. I am not expecting it to be super secure just to scare away the odd wifi network kiddies.
The rest of the network would be nice to have a bunch of super cheapy cams just clear enough to do motion . so majority of the time where they will be (side of the house there will be no action.
When i do find a cam 300-400$ it always seems to either be missing the wireless feature , Infrared , or PTZ or its not clear if it can work with zoneminder and nothing I search for seems to be in the forums here that I find on ebay. I always msg the sellers but for the last 2-3 days I yet to hear back from anyone on there!
Maybe someone can lead me in the right direction. Is there a list of decent stores some ware on the site that is updated . if there is I am unable to find it!
Advice Needed CCD Outdoor Wireless PTZ Infrared
Good luck finding a camera with all those features, and quality, at $300 to $400.
Even some good quality cameras use CMOS not CCD.
If you can find a camera you like with all the features and the price, and it is just missing that one feature, I would work on adding that feature.
The easiest feature to add is wireless. Just get an indoor or outdoor wireless bridge and attach it to the Ethernet segment. There are tons of bridges out there you can use. Even the consumer stuff from Linksys and Dlink would work fine with your WPA requirement.

Ditto on the good luck for that price. I've got two of these ($1300) http://store.bluecherry.net/Auto_Motion ... at-36x.htm that are incredible. They'll see the person coming, zoom in on them, and follow them all the way up to the door. Wired & analog, unfortunately, but with the optical zoom (36x) you don't need the extra resolution. I've got one hanging out of a 6th story window that can make out faces 3/4 of a block away.
So, does it do this independant of zm? Or is this part of the configuration you have on zoneminder? I'd like to do something exactly like this, but want to find out the specifics as well. How is the camera for low light or evening hours?coke wrote:Ditto on the good luck for that price.
