Missing list of events in the monitor window

Post by rex622002 »

Hi,

I have just recently installed ZM 1.24.2 on a fresh install. Ubuntu 8.10 32bit Server using the the "Ubuntu 8.10 Vanilla 32bit" installation instructions i found in the wiki. I have successfully added 2 monitors.

I have 3 problems that i believe are related.

1. I can not see any of the events that have been created when I open up any of the monitors. In other words when click on the name of the monitor a window opens up and shows the live stream from the camera but doesn't list any of the previously created events below the live stream.

2. When I preview a recorded event the progress bar below the video is missing.

3. When I go to generate video from the recorded events, the "Generate Video" button does absolutely nothing.

Notes:
-After a clean install of ubuntu and zm I did not have these problems, until after I tried to get a third monitor running with an old logitech quick cam web camera. I found out the webcam was creating errors that turned into a memory leak that was causing zone minder to completely lock up.
I removed the webcam and now just sticking with the two monitors.
In the course of trying to get my webcam working I did the following.
+ I removed the shmall and shmax entries from the sysctl.conf file.
+ I ran sudo "apt-get install policykit" to fix an error I found in the /var/log/syslog.

- The problems occur on any web browser I tried. (firefox, chrome, IE8)
- The problems occur on both of the monitors.
- I could not find anything suspicious in the system,apache2, or zm log files or zm debug files.

Bandwidth needs to be High or Medium to see the progress bar. You need to install ffmpeg from SVN to generate video. If you have installed it check the paths are correct in Options. Not sure what 1 could be.

I change my bandwidth to high and it didn't make any difference with the progress bar.

I have already installed ffmpeg using SVN, and I double check the path. It all looks good. When i click on the "Generate Video" button it does not show any messages saying that its even trying to generate the video, and there is no ffmpeg.log file created in the events folder.

I'm kinda thinking this is a problem with my php or pearl not displaying the web pages properly.

I have reinstalled ubuntu server 8.10 using the 8.10 vanilla wiki. Installed ZM 1.24.2. Added my 2 monitors and no more. Everything seem to work fine until I started the Mocord on both monitors, then ZM freezing up when I tried to do anything. So, I gave up and came back the next morning. Now zm doesn't freeze up anymore, but now I am back to where I started.

This is exactly what happened the first time around except I blamed it on the usb webcam monitor that I tried to install.

I found a couple of additional things that are not working properly:
4. Can not adjust size of the live stream or events using the drop down menu that allows you to select a multiplier.
5. When viewing live video the playback controls are froze.
6. When viewing stills from an event the controls are froze and the images are missing.

SOLVED

Well, I think I may have just solved my own problem.

By right clicking in any Zone Minder window and selecting reload (firefox, chrome, opera, safari), or refresh (IE) seems to fix the problem.
