Good Afternoon,
Ubuntu 9.04, Athlon XP 1.8 Ghz w/ 2G ram, 9 cameras ( all working). Cool so far. Images & events get written and I can locate them and I can view them.
I installed from Synaptic, also went back and grabbed Perl packages that I thought were needed in regards to ftp, IO, etc.
I cannot get this directory to change owner or group. Stays as root.
chown www-data.www-data /usr/share/zoneminder/temp
I have also made selections in the options>ftp to upload events. No go there. I have a tail running on /var/log/messages, /tmp/zmfilter.pl, /tmp/zmdc.pl. I see the modect trip, alarms reported, images collected. But, no reference to ftp attempt is seen in the logs.
Do I have permissions problems with www-data user?
Anyone else experience this issue?
If there are any questions please ask.
Thanks,
www-data user & FTP
FTP Solved
All,
After reading the forums and experimenting with the different suggestions posted I found that user Fox68 had the answer I needed.
His or Her mod can be found on page of post 1154. I believe that is the post number. If not is is the URL.

So far so good. I will eventually get to e-mail.

E-mail Notification Working
OK, maybe not the way ZM would like to have it work. I loaded SSMTP and built a filter to execute a script. Does not provide any real detail like the ZM mail message, but it works and lets me know motion was detected. Check out these links.

It is a start. I will have to figure out the ZM built in e-mail.
Enjoy,
Ron
